First I’m going to give a big shout out to the incredibly meaningful work this couple does. They own the only registered music therapy business in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Check it out here: Lighthouse Music Therapy. At its core, it focuses on the therapeutic relationship music can have as a way for people with additional support needs (eg autism, Alzheimer's or Down syndrome) to connect. Because pathology can sometimes dictate whether an individual has the ability to connect with another human being, music removes those barriers and allows a means for communication when it may not otherwise seem possible. Pretty amazing stuff, right?!
I was really tickled pink when I got an email from this couple, inquiring about a session for their upcoming vacation in NYC. True, most of my clients are people with children, but that’s only because people only wise up to how important documenting your life together is once they’ve had children. So this couple is way ahead of the curve. We decided it best to capture a bit of quintessential NYC, so we headed to the iconic Staple St and later stumbled across Kaffe 1668.
I was informed that this was their first round of photos post-wedding vows, so let’s just say I was more than a bit nervous to be capturing such a momentous milestone for them. When we were exchanging emails prior to our shoot, I got told they definitely wanted me to be their “photo gal”. Getting such a big compliment from another artist totally made my heart jump up and down. Needless to say, I hope these photos live up to their vision, and as the years pass by, I hope they serve as a reminder of the love and life they shared when they were footloose and fancy free twenty-somethings!
