About the location: Jeffrey Open Space Trail, Irvine CA
Jeffrey Open Space Trail is a natural and classic spot for family photos. It is filled with both natural and man made beauty. The trail stretches 3.5 miles through the heart of Irvine. On the natural side of things, the space is filled with meadows, creek beds, woodsy trails and botanical gardens. On the man made side of things are stone tunnels, metal footbridges and public art displays. If you walk through Long Meadow Tunnel you will eventually come to a pavilion which features stunning hand-tiled art honoring Irvine’s historic orange-crate labels and the Irvine Valencia Growers, whose crops gave name to the county. There’s also an interesting timber art installation which reminded me of photos I’d seen of Easter Island. There are 14 timber posts rising from the ground. They are the beams that supported the floor of an orange packing house that once stood here. Clearly, history is everywhere at Jeffrey Open Space Trail and there are so many different backdrops for an outdoor family photo session.
Family photos to commemorate sweet girl turning 1 at Jeffrey Open Space Trail, Irvine CA
I had been looking forward to meeting this sweet family for months. Mama had contacted me months ago looking to document her sweet little girl having made the 1 year milestone, which is always a fabulous and fun age to have family photos taken (check out this blog of family photos where I discuss why getting family photos when baby turns 1 is a great idea). We’d gone back and forth on an ideal location for their photos, both of us lamenting the lack of green we’re having due to lack of rain here in Sunny Southern California. But I do lots of exploring with my own family and when I stumbled across Jeffrey Open Space Trail one balmy Sunday afternoon, I knew it would be a great spot. Not only did it give us that burst of green we were looking for, but there are more backdrops than you can poke a stick at. This sweet little one year old didn’t peep throughout our session – seriously, not once. And she was enamored with my camera and the lens clicks here and there. As far as babies go, Baby C takes first place as the easiest most chill baby I’ve worked with, as were her sweet mom and dad.
I hope you’ve enjoyed viewing this photo session.
