About the location: Newport Beach Pier, California
When one thinks of Huntington Beach, the iconic Newport Beach Pier is one of the first things that comes to mind. The pier itself measures 1,850 family feet (560 m) in length making it one of the longest piers on the West Coast of the USA. The pier is located at the intersection of Main Street and the Pacific Coast Highway and is the heart of the area. It is an historic area and the pier itself is listed on the California Register of Historical Resources. Newport Beach Pier can make a great spot for family photos if you want a busy and bustling beach scene or if you’re happy to book a shoot midweek and outside of summer months.
Family photo session at the busiest beach in SoCal
Those of you who follow my work know that I only recently relocated to the West Coast. I was lucky enough to “meet” Mama M before we made the move to Cali, and I couldn’t be more grateful that I did. She saw me post in an online forum looking for local mom resources in anticipation of our move to Orange County and she suggested we have a playdate when we arrive (I also think her beautiful soul took pity on me moving with a newborn - bless her). Following her up on the playdate offer is honestly the best thing I’ve done related to our move. She has introduced me to a wonderful network of local moms and her boys are fast becoming my son’s new best friends (this week alone he must have mentioned them 5 times). I’m eternally grateful for her friendship, which has really helped make my transition to life in Cali pretty seamless on the friend front. This session is but a very small thank you to a friend who has given me so much in such a short time. Plus, who could resist an opportunity to photo her little boys – the cutest in Cali if you ask me!
