It was this sweet family’s first photo shoot and it came together about as seamlessly as it could. The big sister you see in these images is a spirited personality and was fairly unfazed about her new little brother, but she definitely had a few opinions about having a camera around. If I had so much change going on in my life, I wouldn’t want a camera up in my face either. Newborn photo shoots aren’t quite the same once you already have a child. It’s hard when you can’t dedicate all of your time to just one child anymore but instead have to manage two with only two hands. But therein lies the fun for me. Instead of creating the moments, I have to wait for them and pounce on them when I get the chance. Like the second photo in this blog post… I waited until closer to the end of the session until big sister started to feel a bit more at ease around me and she got busy twirling her dress around, and that image has easily become one of my favorite from the bunch. Apart from that, I felt lucky to strike up a lovely conversation with Mama M. We talked birth stories, breastfeeding and the differences between first and second children. Rarely do I get time to cover so much ground with someone and listen to so much of their story, but it’s an added bonus to being able to capture images that I hope this lovely family will look at time and time again as the years progress (if you like viewing newborns, please check out this blog post of a newborn photo shoot in RSM).
