About the location: Noguchi Garden Costa Mesa
There are few locations as unique as Noguchi Garden in Orange County. Even though the garden was built in 1982, it still remains relatively unpopulated most days. The area is stunning and boasts about 1.6 acres of public sculpture garden. The garden itself is surrounded by a few blue mirrored high rise buildings. At one part of the garden, is a slightly elevated green hilly meadow that has a number of towering redwood trees and there are a few water streams within the space which are set against a large white backdrop. There is also the Lima Bean sculpture, which is made up of 15 very large granite rocks and signed, with the initials IN, by the sculptor designer himself. The elements may seem disjointed but the garden is peaceful and harmonious and a real fun spot for a photo shoot.
Relaxed maternity session at Noguchi Garden
It’s been awhile since I have done an adults-only session. I forgot how easy it is to work with people who are obliging to follow all my directions and suggestions, as it’s certainly not the way once little people are in the picture. Needless to say, the session was pretty great. The garden is often empty and other than a wedding party taking photos, we basically had the garden to ourselves to wander around and roam at our luxury. I had been looking forward to this session for awhile. When mama-to-be M contacted me, she said she’d been looking for a photographer for awhile and my images caught her eye, which is always good to hear, because it gives me confidence we’d be a great fit. There are so many photographers. I truly believe it’s important to find one who has a style you love. Their sweet little boy is due in a couple of months - an April babe, and as the mom of a 2018 April babe, it’s safe to say their little guy already has a special spot in my heart.
I hope you’ve enjoyed viewing this photo session.
