Leaving the East Coast
It's been about a month since we left the East Coast for the sunny shores of Southern California, more specifically, Orange County. Our second born was about 6 weeks old when we left. Not the ideal time to move, but is there ever an ideal time to move when you have kiddos?
What we love about Orange County, CA
There are a number of reasons that we decided to uproot the life we had spent almost 6 years building, not the least of which was to have a more outdoor lifestyle in the sunshine all year round. We did not visit Orange County prior to moving here, so it was a gamble as to whether we would like it. But we knew enough about Orange County and what we wanted in our new location that we thought we would like it. The jury is out folks: we love Orange County! I've lost count of the number of times hubs and I have said how happy we are with the move already. That doesn't mean that life is perfect - it's not perfect anywhere. But it does mean that we are so happy we live in a place that is conducive to the lifestyle we desired. We go outside every single day. Now that we have a car we can, and do, head out to regional and national parks and the beach whenever we want. The outdoors in Orange County is sunny, green and incredibly clean. There are no sirens outside our windows and so far the people have been welcoming and so very friendly.
Orange County beaches
Set out below are a few images from our first visits to California beaches. We went to one of the lesser crowded beaches, San Clemente State Beach. The second time we went beach hopping, we headed to the always crowded Laguna Beach, which really needs no introduction. If you're wondering whether either of these spots would be an ideal location for your next family photo session, check out this blog post I wrote which discusses some of the best family photography locations in Orange County.
